A reproduction of Reminiscences of Golf at St. Andrews Links, by James Balfour, first published in 1887.   I took this book with me to the Open championship in 1990 and 1995, and was fortunate enough to have it signed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus (top left), Gary Player (bottom left), and Arnold Palmer (top right).  One of my favorite golfers from Oregon also signed, Peter Jacobsen.  I first saw him at the 1976 Northwest Open, and he is a great player, entertainer, and ambassador for the game.  You can also see Ray Floyd (under Palmer) and  Greg Norman (above Player).  The signature under the "1887" is that of Michael Bonallack, 5-time British Amateur champ and head of the Royal and Ancient at that time.  Under his name is that of Vivien Saunders, 1977 Women's British Open champion, and author of a number of good books on golf.  She was signing books at a bookstore and we had a nice discussion of Tom Watson's game (we are both big fans).
